Monsoon this year has been unusually long and destructive. According to the NDM report, more than 900 people have died so far.

In 116 districts of the country, there has been a heavy loss of life and property. More than 500,000 buildings and houses have either collapsed, been washed away, or are uninhabitable. 700,000 cattle have also been washed away.

The most affected province is Balochistan, in which 34 districts have been badly affected and 360,000 people are suffering from severe problems.

23 districts of Sindh have been declared disaster-hit, while the number of affected people is more than 22 lakh.

According to the Meteorological Department, the current spell will last till August 26.
